OK, so I took the day off work today... figured I deserved a 4 day weekend... did nothing but eat and mow the lawn... I'm relaxed, just watched the movie A Civil Action.

So what do I want to write my first REAL post about?
I guess I'll start with what I do most of the time and bitch about my job.
I work for a company that does outsourcing for IT and shall remain nameless but is apparently named after the money shot... if you know what I mean.
I spend most of my time fighting against the management, of which there are many, to let me just do the job they pay me to do. I know, I don't understand it either.
I am, in my own not so humble opinion, a great level 1 tech and will make an excellent level 2 tech very soon. I care about my enduser's to the degree that any tech really can. *tangent time, of which there will be many, I swear my fish are psycho too (see previous post) 2 of them are attacking my bubble wall right now and I find that very entertaining yet disturbing*
My main complaint about my job is the fact that there are SO many processes in place, it makes doing simple things difficult, and difficult things damn near impossible. I mean, c'mon, I have one of the easiest jobs in the world. I get paid to sit on my ass for 8 hours a day and talk on the phone about computers. My job has 4 requirements... 1) A chair, 2) a phone, 3) an enduser, and 4) a computer of my own. Everything else in my opinion is an excuse for others to draw a bigger paycheck than mine.
An example of what I find frustrating happened today. We receive a call from one of our clients for a very simple request... he needs a password reset for one of his webbased accounts. Now I know immediately that the password he is requesting is not one that I can do, I just don't have the access priviledges required to do it. I also know that there are certain requirements for information to pass along to the group that does these resets. It took me 5 minutes to find these requirements. You'd think that it would be a pretty easy undertaking to find that information, but noooooooooooooo, I've got to shoot the shit with a user that doesn't want to be on the phone with me for 5 minutes to find this one damn question.
OK I stopped to make myself something to eat and completely lost where I was going to go with this... so I'll just end it.
I'll get better at this, I promise.

OK, so I've read enough of these that I decided I'd try and do one myself....
To get rid of the AOHeller type a/s/l type shit...
My name is Rob Bennett
At the time of this writing I'm 28
I'm happily married to my lovely wife Kerri.
I have 2 psycho dogs... a cat... 2 fish tanks... and I think some damn rabbits under the shed in my backyard.
I live in Cincinnati and hate almost every moment of it
I work as a level 1 helpdesk tech and am extremely underpaid for what I do.
Satisfied? tough shit, it's all you're getting for now.
